Wed, 15 August 2007 ![]() When you think of Rock-n-roll music - The Doors, Led Zepelin, Guns-n-Roses may come to mind. One of the unique things about these bands is that they all started off in West Hollywood, playing at many clubs on Sunset Strip. If you are visiting Los Angeles, you owe yourself a trip to this iconic street. So much history and so many stories...if only the sidewalks could talk. Some of these "glamorous" nightclubs from the 60's,70's and 80's are still around- The Whisky, for example, is where The Doors started as a house band in the late 60's. And speaking of stories, The Hyatt on Sunset, better known as "The Riot House" has many stories to tell. If you want to stay at one hotel with history - you gotta stay here! The notorious hotel is currently going through a major renovation- which includes replacing the notorious balconies - that's right no more balconies for Axl Rose to BBQ from and then throw steaks at the people walking below (true story from 1986). journeyPod had the opportunity to tour this iconic property as is - before the renovation. We were also fortunate to stay in the famed Suite 905 - also known as the "Robert Plant Suite" - one of the most photographed suites in Hollywood. Photographers are happy just to get a picture of the outside of the door. Apparently in 1975 Robert Plant was quoted saying, "I am a golden god!" from the balcony during an interview. One evening Keith Moon, drummer of the Who, climbed from his suite to serve him a cocktail. Enjoy the appropriate sounds of Indigo Shadow and their song, "Window Riot". Comments[0] |

About 130 miles from Los Angeles, Palm Springs is the perfect weekend get-away. It’s a jewel among desert cities and rightly so. Its village atmosphere has been preserved and embellished over the years. The downtown area with its quaint lampposts, benches and Mexican tile-paved enclaves invites strolling among the shops, galleries, eateries and coffeehouses. Rich in history and blessed with glorious weather, it is a prime destination of travelers from all over the world.
Central Pennsylvania: 90 minutes from Pittsburgh, two hours from Washington, DC and three hours from Philadelphia. With outdoors activities year-round, this is the place to be.

Santa Barbara lies on the West Coast of the United States, 92 miles north of Los Angeles and 332 miles south of San Francisco. The area is famous for its beautiful beaches, most of which lie along a unique south-facing stretch of coastline that affords beach visitors sun all day long and greater shelter from winds and surf. But there's far more here than beaches. Not to miss spots include: Front Street, the Santa Barbara County Historic Courthouse, the Santa Barbara Mission.
San Diego, California. The name conjures up complete bliss: pristine beaches, sunny year round weather, the Zoo, shopping, and of course fine dining and luxurious hotels and resorts. journeyPod has had the opportunity over the past few yeas to cover a few select San Diego area properties such as the Ivy, The Rancho Bernardo Inn, La Costa, Estancia, L’Auberge, and a few select others. The most difficult decision to make regarding a vacation to San Diego is determining what to do and see among the region's vast and diverse offerings. If you want access to the GasLamp, Little Italy, and fabulous restaurants, spas and shopping within a 100 yards of your hotel room....we suggest the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Afterall, it’s the only waterfront hotel and the views are amazing. The hotel boasts shopping, a spa, and a nightclub. Kin nightclub is not to be missed. If you want to see beautiful people and girls dancing in a giant bubble...stop by this one -of -a-kind nightclub, located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. San Diego County promises a truly remarkable vacation experience for everyone, just as Manchester Hyatt’s Director of Marketing Kelly Commerford, told journeyPod during a recent stay.
Welcome to West Hollywood, California! In Los Angeles County, West Hollywood is situated between Beverly Hills and Hollywood and located at the base of the Hollywood Hills. At only 1.9 square miles in size, West Hollywood is one of the smallest and densest cities in California! This exciting destination is home of the world-famous, nightlife hotspot the Sunset Strip. Whether you’re visiting for the hottest shopping, dining, nightlife, spas or luxurious hotels, West Hollywood has it all.
San Francisco, the city by the bay, is located about an hour flight north of Los Angeles or a six hour drive from the city of angels. A convenient area of San Fran in which to call home base when traveling is the financial district.

Sundance Resort , created by Robert Redford, is located in Sundance, Utah, about a hour drive south from Salt Lake City airport.

Need a weekend get-away? Look no further than the chic and quaint boutique hotel, Oceana. Located on the beautiful palm-tree lined Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica, California, Oceana is a hidden hideaway to luxury! You’ll feel like your visiting friends at their beach side condo--not staying at a hotel.
